The Security Blankets are elegant pink cotton crib blankets, decorated with the characters of Alice in Wonderland, but embroidered with phrases taken from a survival manual in which techniques are taught to being able to stop a sexual assault. The embroideries of the instructions to fight/survive violate the innocence of the nursery and carry out a conceptual operation of brutal unmasking of the taboo that limits sexual violence to silence; through this way, this unmasking is also transformed into a warning for future generations.

Baby dull is a site specific work and performance realized during the RAID Manumission Motel exhibition, near Bologna. Installed on a hotel bed, two chains have attached at the end of them a false eyelash made of iron. The performance focuses on intimacy as a space for the negotiation of power.

This work wants to show the possibility of natural forces to invade the domestic life bringing up the uncanny aspect of domesticity itself. I would like to let the hidden natural forces be visible in a place where ‘nature’ is not supposed to be. Through a poetic approach I want to combine domestic life and nature and in a balance showing the fragility of human life.

The decoration of dried flowers covered in gunpowder at the centre of the carpet carries with it the threat of ignition and the escalation of a domestic conflict into a brutal and damaging war. What emerges from this, is necessity to understand how the scares from these events are embedded around us and continue to try and make themselves known through their effect upon our thoughts and actions.

Nobody’s room shows kitchen supplies as they are microphones collecting witnesses and at the same time denying them. For its absurdity and its violent aspect Nobody’s room represent the incommunicable aspect of the domestic environment. Nobody’s room is also part of the performance of the same name.

In July 2013 I went to Hiroshima to interview two survivors of the atomic bomb. What really impressed me was that both said to me that even though they survived, the bomb never stopped detonating for them since for their whole lives, they had to hide that they had been to Hiroshima during the bombing. For the H bomb survivors, in fact, it was very hard to find a job or get married, since they ran the risk anytime to get ill or have ill children. Somehow their lives got stuck after the bomb. Both the survivors told me that the worst time of their lives was not when the bomb was dropped but when they had to deal with love problems. He felt lost when he wasn’t allowed to marry his girlfriend (because of her father’s will) and she felt desperate when she lost her husband. It means that everyone of us has experienced his/her own personal little Hiroshima.
That’s why I took the image of the Hiroshima watch (the one that has been found after the bomb was dropped and that now is in the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum) and I moved the minute hand one minute later and I added the second hand twitching for one second.
