In the sculpture inspired by the Rilke’s poem Duino Elegy n. 1, which uses raw crystals formations, the unobtainable allure of one material, the crystals, is substituted for the tactile malleability of another, the clay. The clay giving you what the crystals can’t, a kind of earthly visceral connection to something unobtainable. They are objects that are united and divided by this desire to capture and understand themselves and the materials of which they are composed.
